Aim: To hear the Bible at church, to read it daily, to study and understand it, to memorize and teach it.
Bible Reading: II Timothy 2
Introduction: Many people do not understand or appreciate the many great blessings that the Bible gives
us. Compare the blessings of Bible based countries to the trouble of Quran based countries.
What important, valuable things does the Bible give us?
1. Knowledge of what is right and wrong. It defines sin as violating God’s laws. These laws include
offences against God and man, with equal rights for all men. It reveals the will of God in every situation
of life. It shines light in the darkness of man’s many foolish ideas and practices.
2. Assurance of a home in heaven, salvation and forgiveness of sin.
3. Assurance of God’s love, forgiveness and acceptance. Ephesians 1:6.
4. Understanding of our creation, origin, history and prophecies of future events.
5. Understanding of ourselves so we can identify our good and bad qualities. “if any be a hearer of the
word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass (mirror).” James 1:23.
6. How to justly and successfully rule a country. The Bible teaches the value of human freedoms.
“He that ruleth over men must be just, ruling in the fear of God.” 2 Samuel 23:3.
7. How to have a happy marriage. Love and please each other. Ephesians 5:21-33.
8. How to have happy, blessed children. ‘Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right.’ Eph 6:1
9. How to have love, joy, peace, hope, patience, kindness. “Faith, hope and love.” I Corinthians 13:13.
10. Wisdom to make right decisions and how to prevent problems. “To receive the instruction of
wisdom, justice, and judgment, and equity;” Proverbs 1:3.
11. Portraits of many people’s lives who failed and succeeded. “Now all these things happened unto
them for exsamples.” 1 Corinthians 10:11. We learn from their mistakes and right decisions.
12. Knowledge of God visiting earth in the OT and NT. ‘he hath visited and redeemed his people’ Lk 1:68
13. Victory over worry, fear and depression. ‘Why art thou cast down, Oh my soul?’ Psalm 42:5,11.
14. Knowledge of how God thinks on every issue of life. “Knowledge of thy ways” Job 21:14.
15. Knowledge of God rewarding the righteous & punishing the wicked. ‘Reward for the righteous’ Ps 58:11
16. Certainty that the universe operates on repeatable, predictable laws which give man certainty as to
science, technology and engineering. Not as Islam thinks. Allah can make exceptions whenever he wants.
“Knowest thou the ordinances of heaven?” Job 38:33. This verse started the science revolution in Europe.
17. The portrait of a perfect life to follow in Jesus Christ. ‘Be followers of me as I am of Christ’ I Cor 1:11
18. The sanctity and value of human life as a gift from God.
19. The necessity of freedom and the evil of slavery. ‘And he that stealeth a man, and selleth him, or if
he be found in his hand, he shall surely be put to death.’ Exodus 21:16. ‘to set at liberty them that are
bruised,’ Luke 4:18.
20. The reality of the spiritual war. Ephesians 6:11-18.
21. The victory over evil when Jesus Christ returns to earth.
22. The value of work, enterprise and industry. “to work with your own hands,” I Thessalonians 4:11.
23. The reality of God answering our prayers.
24. The nature of God is loving, kind, just and a Trinity.
II. The Value of Teaching the Bible
1. If we don’t teach people God’s truth, the devil, the world and false religions will teach them error.
Every Muslim woman with a head covering has been taught by some deceived Muslim to do this.
2. Teaching others gives you a useful life. It stops you getting into mischief.
3. It stops our country getting into error. Sodomites have not been taught much Bible.
4. Teaching the Bible helps you learn the Bible better.
5. Teaching the Bible helps you overcome fear.
6. It keeps you studying the Bible and Christian books more seriously.
7. It makes you appreciate church, your pastor and other good teaching Christians.
8. It sets an example for our children to teach the Bible.
Conclusion: Are you willing to read, study, memorize, meditate, apply, love and teach the Bible?
